A fire ripped through the top floors of the Ritz Hotel in Paris on Tuesday morning. The luxury hotel has been undergoing renovations for the past three years and was set to open in March according to the BBC.
No injuries were reported and 150 workers had to leave the building due to the fire which started on the seventh floor and spread to the roof.
The Ritz Hotel Paris is owned by business tycoon Mohammed Al-Fayed and not affiliated with the Ritz-Carlton chain owned by Marriott Corp. Al-Fayed reportedly has spent over 200 million pounds in renovating the luxury hotel in Paris.
The hotel was best known for the restaurant where Princess Diana and boyfriend Dodi Al-Fayed had dinner before the car crash that killed both of them in 1997.
