RICHMOND and MCLEAN, VA – Hilton Worldwide announced the opening of the newly renovated Hilton Richmond Downtown. Housed in the former Miller & Rhoads department store in the heart of downtown Richmond, the property has recently undergone an $11.5 million dollar transformation, inspired by the architecture and design of the original building.
“Richmond has long been known for its magnificent architecture, monument-lined cobblestone streets and world-class museums, and Hilton Richmond Downtown is a natural complement to the city,” said Rob Palleschi, global head, full service brands, Hilton Worldwide. “With impressive views, historic design and large meeting and event spaces, this property is a true blend of traditional charm meets modern amenities.”
Conveniently located just 15 miles from Richmond International Airport and in close proximity to key local landmarks including James River, Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the 250-guest room hotel is a prominent feature of the market, taking up an entire city block. Designed by Looney & Associates, the seven-story Hilton Richmond Downtown was a department store for more than 100 years before becoming a hotel, with original marble in the main lobby and all artwork commissioned specially for the property. The mixed-use building also boasts 133 residential condominiums and apartments featuring stylish comfort, convenience and modern amenities.
“We are proud to be partnering with Hilton Hotels & Resorts on the revitalization of the former Miller & Rhoads department store building,” said Gary Gutierrez, president, HRI Lodging. “Hilton Richmond Downtown is a magnificent property that we know will add to the vibrancy of this historic Virginia community while serving both the needs of savvy business and leisure travelers.”
Ideal for both business and leisure travelers, Hilton Richmond Downtown features 250 guest rooms with all suites located on the corners of the hotel, offering incredible city views. All guest rooms offer comfortable, large work spaces, complimentary Wi-Fi, a mini-refrigerator and coffeemaker.
A great base for events and business travelers, Hilton Richmond Downtown provides approximately 15,000 square feet of flexible meeting space and two ballrooms, one of which offers a wall of windows offering natural light and a view of Richmond’s Carpenter Theatre. There are a total of eight meeting rooms, all equipped with A/V equipment, drop down screens and ceiling mounted LCD projectors.
Hilton Richmond Downtown offers memorable dining experiences featuring Miller & Rhoads Department store menu favorites including the famous Missouri Club, Brunswick Stew and seven-layer cake. The property is also home to Hilton’s grab-n-go concept Herb N’ Kitchen and will be joined by a high-end Italian restaurant in Spring 2016.
Hilton Richmond Downtown is situated at 501 East Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23219.
